This chocolate bar, featuring an uplifting excerpt from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on its wrapper, is exclusive to the Museum.
Creamy milk chocolate and crunchy hazelnut pieces have been combined to create this tasty confection from the Hadhad family’s Nova Scotia-based business, Peace by Chocolate.
For more than 20 years, the family, originally from Syria, shipped their homemade chocolates to countries all over the Middle East. When missiles struck, the business was destroyed, along with much of Damascus. The Hadhads lived in a refugee camp for three years and eventually came to Canada and became citizens. They settled in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and in 2016 rebuilt their company under the name Peace by Chocolate.
