Framed art print featuring an image of an owl by Indigenous artist Kananginak Pootoogook. Born in 1935 in Ikerrasak camp, south Baffin Island, Northwest Territories, Pootoogook was a sculptor, draftsman and printmaker. He excelled as an engraver and lithographer, particularly of wildlife art, which he had mastered completely while retaining a personal style with definite abstract qualities.
A prominent community leader, he was instrumental in the formation of the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Academy.
